Check Engine Light
What if our desire to be entertained was replaced with a desire to be changed? How would that transform how we live?
What if instead of binging the next Netflix series we gave our fringe moments to seeking to know Him with a deeper knowing? How might that affect our families? Our workplaces?
What if instead of dialoguing with ourselves or complaining to our friends about our stressors and anxieties we actually took heed of the command to pray without ceasing? Does it seem a little crazy to think about, or are we crazy to ignore the calling?
To be an apprentice of Christ, we don’t have the option to keep His Word on the shelf.
To be an apprentice of Christ, we don’t have the option to not engage in prayer.
To be an apprentice of Christ, we don’t have the option to neglect our local church communities.
To be an apprentice of Christ, we don’t have the option to remain arrogant and reliant on self. It’s a humility-kind-of-thing. And, we need to let go of our hold and ask for His power to be made perfect in our endless weakness.
And, see...those things may seem like rituals or burdens to you right now, but that’s exactly what the enemy wants you to think. But, how can we profess belief in a God we’ve never even taken the time to get to know?
So I ask you, and I ask myself, is what I’m doing today working well for me? Are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control reflected in my life?
If not, that’s a “check engine light” and I have some adjusting to do. When your car needs work, do you take it to the movies ? NO! You take it to the person who has the authority and power to fix it!
Don’t believe the LIE that your problems will consume you. The God of the universe loves you without measure. He WANTS to hear from you. He’s ready with open arms to meet you with LOVE and gobs of grace. Talk to Him. Be blessed, friend.
